Am descoperit ceea ce pot numi o micuta comoara, am gasit cateva fotografii facute de un cetatean american in Bucurestiul anului 1964. Fotografiile se prezinta sub forma unor diapozitive stereografice, lucru cu atat mai interesant. Nu par facute de un profesionist dar puse cap la cap imaginile se transforma intr-un reportaj de calitate.

Slide-urile vin cu insemnarile personale ale autorului. Sunt scurte si la obiect dar compun foarte bine atmosfera generala. Nu reusesc sa identific scopul vizitei in Romania, numele sau ocupatia “fotografului” dar americani in Bucuresti in anul 1964 nu cred ca se gaseau pe toate drumurile. Cert este ca omul nostru s-a plimbat prin centru cu o camera stereografica si a fotografiat diverse scene, pastrand o obiectivitate interesanta.

In total sunt 28 de imagini dar le-am selectat doar pe cele mai importante. Pentru ca sunt stereo, imaginile pot fi vizualizate tridimensional cu ajutorul unor aparate speciale. Nu este cazul nostru, pe internet trebuie sa ne limitam la 2D.

Cele 28 de slide-uri stereografice contin insemnari ale autorului.

ziua de alaltaieri, singura zi libera intr-o mare de 33 de zile de lucru, a trecut extrem de placut si de repede. ieri am inceput seria de concerte cu the ghosts.

The Ghosts of Versailles (in premiera europeana) este una dintre cele 4 opere pe care le cantam anul acesta si sunt multe multe sanse sa devina o favorita. in primul rand dirijorul, american, tanar; la prima repetitie ne-a dat drumul mai devreme. e foarte clar in gesturi, calm, aparent foarte putin sofisticat (in comparatie cu alti dirijori - un intreg univers!), dar totusi cu mare grija la detalii. nu ne pune sub presiune, ne incurajeaza mereu si face ca lucrurile sa para mai simple decat sunt. este foarte prietenos si cu toate astea, culmea, toata lumea il respecta. genul meu preferat!

aseara a fost prezent in sala insusi compozitorul, John Corigliano , fapt care ne-a dat o stare de discomfort, auzind ca este o persoana foarte stricta. dar se pare ca de data asta a fost placut impresionat, asa ca dupa concert a venit in fosa, ne-a felicitat si ne-a multumit tuturor. daca aveti putin timp sa intrati la el pe site o sa-mi intelegeti mai bine entuziasmul.

eu am ajuns la concluzia ca opera este apogeul artelor si sunt sigura ca am multe capete de partea mea. nici nu e greu sa te indragostesti de ceva (care nu credeai ca o sa-ti placa vreo data) cand la mijloc e vorba de un program intensiv, cand vrei nu vrei trebuie sa intelegi! si de abia cand intelegi poti sa spui Da. unde sunt zilele alea de lepra si holera cand spuneam sus si tare ca Mozart e plicticos?!?! "nustu, mie nu-mi place...." DIE

da... cat de perfecta poate fi vocea umana... atunci cand e perfecta :)

si ce fericire simti in tot corpul cand auzi un cantaret improvizant un milimetru diferit fata de data trecuta. iar milimetrul acesta devine cea mai frumoasa si efemera creatie! si atunci te intorci la colegul de pupitru, zambesti subtil si apleci usor capul spre stanga. da domne!

eu fiind in gasca cu dl compozitor constantin basica am invatat ca nu e frumos sa-i privezi de respect pe contemporani si am descoperit ca e chiar placut sa ai atitudinea aceea extremista de fan nr 1 al tuturor ciudateniilor experimentale.

de mult nu am mai cantat ceva avangardist care sa prinda atat de repede la public si la orchestranti (de regula cu ei e cel mai greu), asa cum o face The Ghosts. bine, poate unele parti prind chiar prea bine... de ex (pe scurt libretul: in palatul versailles fantomele decid sa aiba un spectacol-petrecere de dragul vremurilor demult trecute), e un fragment in care actiunea se petrece la the turkish embassy. teme folclorice turcesti, ritm pregnant, toata lumea e fericita. eh, si uite ca genul asta de fericire in care toata lumea mimeaza "in gluma" un dans subtil din umeri ma cam scoate din sarite. de fiecare data aceeasi poanta! rrrrr

Yesterday you and bloggers in 155 countries across six continents wrote about a single issue that impacts us all, and turned Blog Action Day 2009 into one of the largest social change events ever held on the web.

Your participation helped change the conversation and showed the power of the web to connect people across the world who despite their varied backgrounds have one shared desire: to make a difference. According to blogpulse, we increased the number of posts about climate change on a given day by 500%, and CNN wrote a great article covering the excitement and diversity of today's event across the web and around the world.

A full recap is up on our blog, and here are some highlights:

We hit 31,000 total trackable blog posts, and our current estimate is that together we reached at least 17.9 million people yesterday. We just exceeded 13,000 registered bloggers on the site and are working to get all of you who posted but haven't yet registered into the final count.

We had at least three major world governments as active participants in this year's event. United Kingdom Prime Minister Gordon Brown posted the first Blog Action Day entry in Britain at the stroke of midnight on the 15th, which was followed by Foreign Minister David Milliband and many others from the UK stationed around the world. The PSOE governing party of Spain hosted a bloggers event focused on climate change and transformed their website for the day to promote Blog Action Day. And late in the day, President Barack Obama's White House blog joined in become part of the global movement of bloggers shaking the web.

Of course, well-known bloggers were a big presence yesterday as well:

The Official Google Blog gave a green tour of the company's campus;
Mashable asked what you're doing to reverse climate change;
The Unofficial Apple Weblog suggested "Five apps to help save the world";
Treehugger gave us two simple things that could, by themselves, stop climate change;
Global Voices posted a roundup of bloggers from around the world writing in many languages;
Gadling spent the whole day posting about green travel;
BlogHer covered the road to the next international climate negotations in Copehagen.

There are many more, and we encourage you to check out the Featured Posts on the blogactionday.org homepage for a longer list of some of the world's largest blogs.

Many of our nonprofit partners, leading organizations from around the world, were also actively involved in making the event a success:

TckTckTck released a beautiful and touching new video;
Greenpeace bloggers from around the world joined in;
World Wildlife Fund featured Blog Action Day on their international climate blog;
Oxfam helped emphasize the human side of the climate crisis;
1Sky wrote about the front lines of political activism in the US;
The Nature Conservancy helped us understand the science of climate change;

Consequence wrote a whole series of posts on youth climate leadership.

noi (grupul) am tot avut tentative ecologiste in ultimii 4-5 ani. dar ianafara de reciclat (unde se ofera conditii), mesaje subliminale vandute sub numele button :) si economie la curent electric (vezi scos computer, lampi, incarcatoare etc din priza cand iesi din casa, geam inchis cand ai aer conditionat in functiune smd), nu am facut mai nimic. e greu sa renunti la avion, iar eu una nu pot si nici nu cred ca vreau sa renunt. e adevarat, poate nu e la fel de greu sa pui intr-un container toate resturile bio-degradabile si sa le ingropi undeva in natura, iar asta ar insemna totusi ceva.

sincera sa fiu, ecologia a luat atat de multe forme si atat de multa amploare incat ma simt din ce in ce mai mica cand ma gandesc sa iau atitudine. dar atunci aud in cap ce mi-a zis costin odata: cu putin de la fiecare se face mult. mai stii cand am umplut portbagajul de hartii, carti, cutii, reviste si am cautat o zi intreaga un loc in care sa le putem lasa pt reciclat? :)

Philippe Starck has been pretty busy designing stuff lately, considering just a few months ago he was proclaiming that "design is dead" and announcing his retirement. I guess the most creative minds have the most persuasive demons, and it seems Starck is trying to learn from his: after proclaiming that "everything he had ever designed was useless" he's now on to designing something truly useful and trendy: a mini-turbine designed for people to use at home to generate their own wind power.

The mini-turbine is made of clear polycarbonate (the lack of color is apparently a statement about there being so much materiality in the world) and is capable of providing 20-60% of the power needs for the average home. It will be available this coming September with a price tag around $600

a few weeks ago i was with sarah in front of the pavilion having a fag ;) when ian passed by. wow. and just because i've been to one of his gigs in the cranelane and i know his album so well i had the feeling that he knows me too, i said hi and he said hi, how are you :) shame on you for being friendly! i met a "famous" romanian dj on wed night at ota, a guy that i used to go out with, i said hello and got no reply. it's all about being a star. nope, not on your side.

in my opinion, these fellows don't have quite romanian features, if you understand where i'm getting.
"although the violence was relatively minor, the families felt that they couldn't stay any longer" was? homeless and anxious?! they are homeless immigrants by definition!
i don't want to go too far with it, but next time i'll be in belfast i'll make sure i'll contact the "young males" that seem to be more efficient than the romanian policemen. because when you ask your "romanian" neighbors to turn off the music at 2 o'clock in the morning they answer back "i do what i want!".

The celebration of new urban cultures in Romania continues with a live performance by a band that aims at always taking their fans and public by surprise; their live performances combine the electronic music with other classical music instruments (violin, trumpet, horn, trombone, etc) as well as visual art or plastic mannequins. In December 2007, two Romanian students, Lucian Racoviţan (Architecture) and Costin Basica (Music Composition), decided to start an electronic music group bearing the name of an Architecture course program: Rezistenţa Materialelor (The Endurance of Materials). Since then, their music, experimenting and recycling musical themes and ironic events and characters from the social and cultural surroundings, was present in all major clubs and electronic music festivals in Romania.

The event is organized in collaboration with the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art in NYC.

aseara am cantat intr-un concert de binefacere (Cork Alzheimers Home Support) organizat de the mayor of cork la city hall. mi s-a parut mult mai usor decat data trecuta, asa ca in timpul concertului n-am mai fost terifiata si m-am putut bucura rand pe rand de cele 23 (!) de piese. am inceput sa ma obisnuiesc sa cant pentru un public complet necunoscut. nu tu mamici, nu tu bunici, amici, pitici, dar pentru ca imi este foarte dor de casa, mi-am format un fel de realitate paralela in care ii aduc pe toti cei apropiati cu mine la scoala, la tesco, la english market, penneys, apoape peste tot. mai exact, aseara tot dadeam dedicatii in gand: asta pentru ruci! pentru mama! stiu ca sunt putin desuete, dar dedicatiile muzicale nu au omorat pe nimeni, nu? deci avem asa...

+ our view on the matter is that Romanian officials should show no hesitation in helping, by any diplomatic means possible, the enforcement of human rights in Moldova, regardless of any pressure put on our state by Russian officials.
Our help should consist of spreading across the irregularities and abuse that happen right now just a few hours away from our homes. International media has taken a very shallow attitude by mostly ignoring moldavian free press reports and focusing on news coming mainly from russian-based correspondents. This is somewhat understandable, seeing how other-than-russian journalists are not received in Moldova.
As most of you already know, Russia and communist Moldova's attitude translates into something that might sound like: Whatever move done by Romania, other than putting the protests on ignore, will be regarded as a unionist act.
This attitude is confirmed and fed by our own "helping" fellow romanians, through putting up banners that serve no purpose but their own. In an attempt to offer genuine help, we should not take this opportunity to promote our own beliefs and affiliations, or even worse, convert it to a memento of history and geography lessons taught by communist regime.
While nationalist views are indeed seductive, we should respect Moldova's fragile situation by not diverting their efforts for real freedom. Putting question marks on their initiative is the worst we can do and we should learn from our experience: a revolution for freedom questioned to this day through the implications of interested parties.
Still, should we be afraid to do the tenth part of what others have done for Romania's freedom?
